Team Harmony triumphant in Pooncarie Relay |
The triumphant Team Harmony, led by Leah Fleming run out winners of the 125k Club to Pub (Pooncarie) Relay on Sunday by a slender margin.
Three teams finishing within 2 minutes of each other, it was down to the wire with 2 k’s to go.
The gun team of Leah Fleming, Dean Pettit, Kym Lutyjes, Tony Grasso, Wayne Gill, Nigel Davis, Terry Miller, Toni Miller & Julie Driscoll travelled the 125 k distance from the Coomealla Club in Dareton to Pooncarie in the time of 8hours and 17 minutes, including a compulsory 30 minute lunch break.
The three teams battled all day with the team leaders challenged at every changeover, and the finish was so close with Millsy’s Mauraders taking out second spot, and Mark Slade’s Chaos team third.
After race refreshments at the Telegraph Hotel, followed by the coveted trophy presentation to the Club to Pub winners was enough for the runners to request that the event become a regular calendar inclusion in future years.
